Cal commit quarterback Adrian Martinez talks scholarship offers

Since extending a verbal commitment to Cal during late-November, Adrian Martinez has gone on to receive scholarship offers from programs hailing from the SEC, Big Ten, Pac 12 and Big 12.

This past Tuesday, the Clovis West (Fresno, CA) quarterback landed his most recent one from Alabama.

“Alabama football is at a certain prestige, so I was honored to just have received the offer from them,” he said. “It’s hard to not be very impressed by the overall output over the last few years, so I’m really just looking forward to getting to know the staff.”

Other SEC schools have made offers to Martinez as well including Georgia in mid-March and Tennessee during late-February.

“Georgia is an amazing school with a great tradition,” he said. “I’m looking forward to building that relationship with the coaching staff there. I am very impressed with the way Tennessee operates and the history of the program. I will try to make it out there to visit.”

Last week, Arizona State offered the 2018 prospect, who was also offered from Arizona and West Virginia over a month ago, along with Rutgers in January.

Martinez also holds offers from Boise State, Colorado, Colorado State, Fresno State, Miami (FL), Missouri, Nevada, San Jose State, UCF, Utah, Vanderbilt and Washington State.

He took an unofficial visit to Cal during the last week of January and plans to make upcoming visits.

“Nothing has been set in stone,” Martinez said. “But I’ll definitely be taking visits.”
