Tennessee commit says ‘we can accomplish something special in Knoxville’

What began with a scholarship offer from Tennessee on February 28 has led to a verbal commitment for Adrian Martinez.

And in between, came an unofficial visit to Knoxville on April 21, a decommitment from Cal two days later, as well as offers from Georgia, Arizona State, Alabama, Ole Miss, Oregon and Oklahoma for the Clovis West (Fresno, CA) quarterback.

“I chose them because of my relationship with the coaches, the chance to place for amazing fans and the opportunity to learn from and play with the best,” he said of the Volunteers. “It’s a very special program with special people involved and I truly felt I could make an impact there.”

Martinez was first offered by Utah this past September which was followed by an unofficial visit to Cal and offers from Washington State, Colorado, Miami (FL) and Vanderbilt during October.

The following month, the 2018 prospect extended a verbal commitment to Cal which was followed by offers from Rutgers, West Virginia and Arizona, who offered three days prior to Tennessee.

“The people involved in the program made a lasting impression on me,” he said. “I truly believe we can accomplish something special in Knoxville.”

Martinez plans to make a return trip this upcoming June with no plans to visit other programs.

“I’m shutdown at this point.”
