Oklahoma State “great fit” for Texas DB

It didn’t take long for Xavier Player to make up his mind.

Only two days after receiving a scholarship offer from Oklahoma State, the Steele (Cibolo, TX) defensive back revealed a verbal commitment to the Cowboys last week.

“Not too far from home,” he said. “I play big games week in and week out. Overall great fit for me.”

Player also pointed to some specifics which helped lead to the decision to spend his college career in Stillwater.

“I would say the culture that [head] coach [Mike] Gundy has set,” he said. “There’s just a different atmosphere and I feel welcome. I feel I have an opportunity to do something great for this football program on and off the field.”

The 2019 prospect confirmed his recruitment is shutdown for right now and also holds offers from Sam Houston State, Louisiana-Lafayette, UTSA, Rice, South Alabama, North Texas, McNeese State, New Mexico, Cornell, Yale, Liberty, Brown, Texas State, Stephen F. Austin, Bowling Green, Houston Baptist, Abilene Christian, Incarnate World, Army and Air Force.
