It didn’t take long for DeAngelo Griffin to make his decision.
Just two day after an official visit to Minnesota, the Crisp County (Cordelle, GA) defensive tackle announced a verbal commitment to the Gophers.
“Just being there,” he said. “Just being somewhere like that. Never been to a place like it.”
Griffin originally received a scholarship offer from Minnesota in late February following an in-state offer from Georgia Tech less than a week prior, and eventually took a trip to the Atlanta campus in March.
During that same month, the 2019 prospect spent time at Kentucky with both UNC and Maryland extending scholarship offers.
Tulane, Coastal Carolina and Southern Miss all extended offers of their own to Griffin last month.
He also holds offers from Kentucky, ECU, Indiana, Chattonooga, South Carolina, Georgia Southern, Central Michigan, Arkansas, Campbell, Kent State, Wake Forest, Western Kentucky, Tuskegee and UAB.
Looks to have the skill set to be scheme diverse for the Gophers.
Griffin displays the ability to fit in both a 3-4 or 4-3 look along the line of scrimmage.
Athletic for his size and provides a quick twitch presence to get into the back field in both pass rush and run stop situations.
Has the ability to set an edge on the strong and weak side as well as impose an interior push as a defensive tackle.
