Cyclone commit among the state’s best

About two months after receiving a scholarship offer from Iowa State last October, Darien Porter extended a verbal commitment to the in-state Big 12 program.

With his senior year still ahead of him, the Bettendorf (Bettenford, IA) wide receiver wasted no time in becoming a member of the Cyclones’ 2019 recruiting class.

Porter makes up a trio of pass catchers which also includes Strake Jesuit (Houston, TX) product Nathanile Beal III and D’Shayn James out of Perry (Gilbert, AZ).

Bettendorf’s in-coming senior had landed Big Ten offers as well from both Minnesota and Nebraska.

Last fall, Porter made an unofficial visit to see the Gophers along with trips to Iowa State, Iowa and Notre Dame.

He was most recently in Ames for a junior day during February.
