SEC recruit chooses Big Ten school

Joseph Daniels’ verbal commitment to Indiana came down to a variety of factors for the Roswell (Alparetta, GA) cornerback

But what stoodout most was the Kelly School of Business along with the opportunity to contribute to the Hoosiers’ football program as a true freshman.

“I first wanted to make sure the school I was going to had great academics for my plans of becoming a business major,” he said. “And a staff that believed in my talents and that I can help early on in my career.”

Daniels last spent time at the Bloomington campus during the beginning of last month and plans to make a return trip as a student-athlete in mid-June.

“I visited March 3-4,” he said. “And I enroll on June 13th and that’s the next time I’ll be there.”

The 2018 prospect took a handful of visits just over a year ago when he was at SEC program Tennessee as well as in-state ACC program Georgia Tech.

IU is adding a defensive back with a high school background playing against some of the south’s elite competition.

Daniels provides athleticism and instincts in the secondary with an ability to play physical in press coverage and drop out of zone to close on perimeter threats.

Dynamic with the football in his hands as well in both the return game and as a running back.

Displays an ability to re-route wide receivers against a variety of patterns and knows how to find the football.
