Maryland prospect ‘loved’ Notre Dame

As an underclassmen for North Caroline (Ridgley, MD) last Fall, Kendron Wayman thrived as a 4-3 defensive end.

This past Saturday, the on-field production led to an unofficial visit for the 2020 prospect.

Wayman spent time at Notre Dame for the Fighting Irish’s annual Spring game.

“It was great,” he said. “I like the impression that the coaches left on me. I loved it and the football program is amazing. Seeing it up close blows my mind.”

The sophomore will now be looking towards other campus trips following the unofficial visit to South Bend, which includes a handful of ACC programs and one Big Ten school.

“I’m trying to visit Boston College,” he said. “And go to a few camps that I got invited to like Duke, Wake Forest and Rutgers.”

Wayman had a previous experience at an ACC school with a Virginia trip last year and reflected on the Charlottesville environment, the team and Cavaliers’ coaching staff.

“They were friendly and it had a good atmosphere,” he recalled. “The football program was good. Going into their meetings and seeing the players excited got me wanting to go to college already. The coaches left a good impression just by the way they associated with the players. It was as if they were family.”
