With an abundance of scholarship offers from SEC and ACC regional programs, Kevin Austin received a Midwest presence on Monday.
Notre Dame extended an offer to the North Broward Prep (Pompano, FL) wide receiver, which is the 22nd for the 2018 prospect.
“What I admire most about the program are the great academics and culture of the university,” Austin said. “That stands out the most to me. I’m not positive when I’ll take a visit.”
Although the junior has yet to make a trip to South Bend (IN), he has found time for conversations with Fighting Irish running back coach, and the program’s all-time leading rusher, Autry Denson.
“We have talked and I am currently building a relationship with coach Denson,” Austin said. “He’s just a great person off the field and very open when we talk.”
Prior to Notre Dame’s offer, he most recently received offers from North Carolina (Aug. 25), Tennessee (July 21), Iowa State (May 23), UCF (May 10), Michigan State (Jan. 21), Kentucky (Jan. 21), Miami (Dec. 3, 2015), USF (Oct. 24, 2015) and NC State (Oct. 24, 2015).
Austin also took trips to camps at Miami (June 9), FAU (June 14), Florida State (July 19) and Tennessee (July 21).
Last season as a sophomore, a dynamic presence was provided on the perimeter of the offense. Austin plays the receiver position with the traits of a running back, which creates an ability to break tackles, be physical at the line of scrimmage and separate from defensive backs with a downhill burst.
Runs routes with precise consistency and hauls in the football at its highest point.
