Illinois continued to provide a recruiting presence in the state of Florida on Monday.
A week after receiving a verbal commitment from class of 2017 Miami Central wide receiver Carmoni Green, the Illini extended a scholarship offer to Florida State commit James Blackman.
The Glades Central (Belle Glade) quarterback now holds 14 offers and landed his first since July 21, when he was offered by both the Seminoles and UAB.
Prior to a commitment to Florida State on Aug. 3, Green took unofficial visits to FAU (March 3), Miami (April 16) and West Virginia (June 24). He also made trips to camps at Louisville (June 13), who offered on Dec. 9, 2015, and with the Seminoles as well.
Green posseses a natural skill set in the pocket with the ability to roll outside. The 2017 prospect is more than a pro-style presence by utilizing zone-read schemes. In the passing game, Green uses a tall frame to his advantage with clean looks over the offensive line, leading to shot throws throughout the football field. The ball comes out quickly starting with quick feet out of the drop back, but also patient when asked to be by letting plays develop.
