Shawn Davis has his collegiate future figured out.
On Saturday, the defensive back out of Miami Southridge (Miami, FL) revealed a verbal commitment to Florida after choosing the Gators over Miami.
“It came down to my two schools,” Davis said via Twitter. “I would like to thank every college that gave me the opportunity to come to their school and ball for them.”
The 2017 prospect most recently took a pair of unofficial visits to Gainesville (FL) this past spring (March 21 and April 8), after receiving an offer from Florida on Feb. 15.
The Hurricanes extended an offer to Davis on Feb. 10 which was followed by an unofficial visit to Coral Gables (FL) six days later, another one on April 14, and a trip to Miami’s Paradise Camp on June 16. He holds 27 offers.
Davis plays the football with the traits of a wide receiver. Has soft hands and intercepts jump balls at the highest point. We see a fit in the secondary at corner back, nickel or dime. Can cover in press man and zone while possessing an ability to tackle with the physicality of a safety.
