Village Academy defensive back commits to Kent State

Rodley Jolicoeur says he’s not planning a visit to Kent State during the Fall.

He’s actually never been there. And won’t until after his final season with Village Academy (Delray Beach, FL) is completed.

However, even though Jolicoeur has yet to step foot on campus, the defensive back believes other factors were enough to verbally commit to the Golden Flashes, which extended a scholarship offer to him nearly two weeks ago (Aug. 1)

“The coaching staff has been so great to me,” said Jolicoeur, who also holds offers from Air Force, Army, Bryant, Navy and North Carolina. “They go out of their way to make me and my family happy, and they just simply kept me motivated.”

Prior to Sunday’s announcement, the incoming senior had received an offer from the Naval Academy on March 3, followed by visiting the Midshipmen a few short weeks later (March 21). Jolicoeur also made an in-state trip to Florida Atlantic on April 16 and received an offer from North Carolina nearly a month ago (July 15).

“They just took my recruiting process to another level.” he said of Kent State. “They see the dog in me.”

Jolicoeur’s best fit on the field is likely to come at the nickel and safety spots. He has the ability to cover in space, as well as come off the edge and through the interior of the line of scrimmage, with speed and physicality. Jolicoeur provides an athletic presence to the defensive of the ball, having a background running the football.

The 2017 prospect now looks to focus on the upcoming high school campaign.

“My expectations are plain and simple. Don’t worry about the stats, lead our team to a district championship, win our first playoff game, make a deep push for state and be the best teammate I can be”
