With a plethora of scholarship offers from Big Ten schools in the midwest, Mac Hippenhammer has decided to venture east, but stay within the conference.
The Snider (Fort Wayne, IN) wide receiver announced a verbal commitment to Penn State on Saturday.
Hippenhammer holds Big Ten offers from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Michigan State, along with interest from Michigan and Purdue.
Prior to commiting to the Nittany Lions, the incoming senior camped at Happy Valley, PA on June 13, received an offer less than a week later (June 19) and took a visit on July 16. He also visited Notre Dame (June 18), Michigan State (June 22), Wake Forest (July 15) and Iowa (July 23), and received offers from the Hawkeyes (June 21), the Spartans (June 22) and Indiana (June 23) in consecutive days.
Punters, avoid out kicking the coverage, because Hippenhammer is a weapon in the return game. Offensively, he lines up out on the boundary as a receiver, the slot as a receiver and under center running zone read concepts. High points the football with his hands and seperates before and after the catch.
