
Heading into his current sophomore season with Nazareth Academy (La Grange Park, IL), J.J. McCarthy garnered college recruiting attention throughout the summer.
This included campus trips to Oklahoma State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Iowa State, Indiana and Cincinnati.
McCarthy currently holds scholarships offers from the Cyclones and Hoosiers and received another on Sunday.
South Carolina is the latest school to extend one to the 2021 prospect, which was his first SEC offer.
This past Friday, McCarthy finished with 191 passing yards and a touchdown during the Roadrunners’ 20-6 win over Lutheran North (St. Louis, MO).
The signal-caller also spent time at Tennessee earlier this year and is the fifth quarterback offered by the Gamecocks in the recruiting class.
Westview (Martin, TN) quarterback Ty Simpson became the seventh to hold one in the 2020 class.
