The state of Georgia continues to be good to the Auburn football program following Zion Puckett’s commitment last Friday.
He became the Tigers’ eighth verbal from “The Peach State” in the 2019 recruiting class a day after Colby Wooden out of Archer (Lawrenceville, GA) extended one of his own.
Puckett spoke about the decision to name Auburn as a future school.
“Family environment,” he said. “Definitely just the school surroundings and community.”
With 30-plus scholarship offers, the Spalding (Griffin, GA) athlete had narrowed his top 10 to the Tigers, Alabama, Duke, Miami (FL), Notre Dame, Ohio State, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee and Texas A&M this past May.
Puckett made visits to see the Crimson Tide, the Buckeyes, the Gamecocks and Florida earlier this year, prior to a trip to Auburn during June.
When asked if he plans to shut down the recruiting process or still plans to visit other schools the senior said, “As of right now I’m not sure.”
