IMG Academy receiver talks offers, visits and camps

Donnovan Moorer took notice of Western Michigan’s program led by then-head coach P.J. Fleck in recent seasons.

On Sunday, the IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL) wide receiver added his first scholarship offer of the month after Minnesota and current-head coach Fleck extended an offer of their own.

“Really means a lot,” he said of the Golden Gophers. “I know they just hired coach Fleck. Having much history and great seasons at Western Michigan and a great legacy there. So I’m excited to see what he can pull off with this Minnesota team this year. I don’t know if it would be anytime soon, but I’d definitely make that trip before making a decision.”

Speaking of trips, the 2020 prospect made one to South Carolina in March, which was his first SEC unofficial visit since being on campus at Georgia this past November.

Moorer also took visits to Jacksonville State during early October and Georgia Tech last September.

“It was Great!” he said of South Carolina. “One of the best visits I’ve been on so far. The coaches were very involved with me during my time there and knew a lot about me. One of the highlights was definitely trying on some of the different uniform combos, helmets and full gear.”

The sophomore to be’s list of offers includes Louisville, FIU, Kansas, Maryland, Illinois, Indiana, Jacksonville State, Miami (FL), Middle Tennessee State, South Alabama, TCU and UCLA.

“This summer, I plan on visiting Louisville for sure!” he said. “And camp wise, I still plan on going to a few Sound Mind, Sound Body Camps which was very successful for me last year. And also, I will be playing in the IMG nationals 7v7 tourney this year again.”
