A mix of division one 2018 and 2019 prospects from the midwest and portions of the east and northeast were on display at The Opening Regionals.

The Chicago Bears’ practice facility, Halas Hall, hosted the event filled with multiple position groups holding scholarship offers from college programs.

Listed below are a collection of one-on-one highlights with the running backs from this weekend’s competition.

CODY SCHRADER RB LUTHERAN SOUTH (MO)

The Lutheran South product landed an opportunity to compete against 2018 Notre Dame commit and Harrison (Farmington Hills, MI) linebacker Ovie Oghoufo.

Schrader provides deceptive quickness and a downhill presence while securing the football.

Reminds us of former Fighting Irish running back Cam McDaniel, who is currently a member of the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes.

CHRIS WITHERSPOON RB WHITEHAVEN (TN)

The 2018 prospect is explosive the split second he puts his foot in the ground.

Provides a burst of agility making cuts in the open field and finishes runs with a downhill presence.

The natural shiftiness can create hesitation on the second and third levels of the defense to pursue the ball carrier.

LAWRENCE JOHNSON RB WAUNAKEE (WI)

Heading into his senior season, Johnson has landed scholarship offers from a heavy dose of MAC programs which includes Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, NIU, Toledo and Western Michigan.

The running back is a between the tackles downhill back with the vision and quick twitch traits to get to the outside and run away from defenders.

Has a background on defense as a cornerback and displays ideal patience and ball skills for screen concepts on offense.

Also holds offers from New Mexico and Wyoming, who Johnson made an unofficial visit to see last month.

In early March, he took an unofficial visit to Iowa as well.
