Gabriel Rubio will find himself in Notre Dame stadium when the Irish host Southern Cal on Saturday night.
And the class of 2021 Notre Dame commit is treating the campus trip as an opportunity to help the program secure more recruits.
“This visit is to connect with the other 2021 commits, meet the 2020 guys and recruit the other visitors,” he said. “I wanna watch us be dominant vs. SC.”
The weekend visit is not the first time Rubio has spent time in South Bend this season.
Last month, the Lutheran Of St. Charles County (MO) defensive lineman witnessed the Irish defeat Virginia 35-20 and plans to see Notre Dame at least one more time during the Fall.
“My entire family and I are going to the Navy game in November.”
Rubio extended a verbal commitment to the Irish in June and spoke of how firm the decision was.
“I’m committed and I would never have done it if I had any doubts that ND was the place for me,” he said. “I won’t be visiting any other schools either. Coaches are contacting me every week and so I decided to visit ND as often as possible to continue to create bonds and to keep ND in the front of my mind.”
The junior originally received a Notre Dame scholarship offer in May and also holds ones from Ball State, Cal, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.
