Offensive lineman Rafiti Ghirmai talks recent offers

Following a scholarship from Minnesota on Wednesday, Rafiti Girmai has now been offered by seven schools during the month of February.

Prior to the offer from the Golden Gophers, the Wakeland (Frisco, TX) offensive lineman had landed offers from Houston, Utah, UTSA, Missouri, Florida and UCLA so far this month.

In late January, Ghirmai attended TCU’s Junior Day after landing an offer from the Horned Frogs a few weeks earlier.

“It was really fun,” he said. “Getting to talk to Coach [Gary] Patterson 1 on 1 was the highlight. As a coach he’s a great leader, and I admire him and as a person. He is very creative. He told me he likes to scuba dive and sky dive. Not many coaches do that, so he’s very interesting.”

When Utah offered during the first full week of February, the 2018 prospect reflected on their program as well

“I think they are a good school and they have good academics for business,” he said. “I could maybe go to a Spring camp.”

Houston offered a few days earlier.

“Very nice place and nice coaches,” Ghirmai said. “I liked it.”

Which was followed with an offer from Missouri later that week.

“Great place and they do a great job with their players. Plus they’re in the SEC.”

He’s most recently made a trip to Oklahoma this past weekend along with one to rival Oklahoma State in late January, where the Cowboys extended an offer of their own..

Ghirmai’s list of offers also includes Baylor, Bowling Green, Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas, North Texas, SMU, Texas, Texas Tech, Tulsa and UCF.
