Wide receiver talks IMG transfer along with football recruiting plans

A day after finding a new high school football home at IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL), Donnovan Moorer shared more insight on the decision to transfer.

The former Hebron Christian Academy (Dacula, GA) wide receiver pointed towards a variety of factors.

“Well, it was something I wasn’t sure I was ready for at such a young age,” Moorer said. “But I shortly realized this was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. It isn’t very often they look for freshmen like myself to come into the school, and it was a blessing when I was given this opportunity.”

The 2020 prospect enters his off-season so far with nine scholarship offers from college programs including FIU, Illinois, Indiana, Jacksonville State, Louisville, Maryland, Miami (FL), Middle Tennessee State and TCU.

“Not only will I be getting prepared at this school like no other, but I will be exposed to some of my favorite colleges here in the state of Florida.”

Heading into his sophomore season, Moorer continues to weigh plans for camps and college visits.

The freshman was invited to the Nike Opening Regional, the Rivals Underclassman Challenge and the Rivals Camp Series.

Like last off-season, Moorer will continue to train with Elite Talent’s Derrick Tatum.

“Now that I’m in Florida, I look into taking visits to Gainesville to build relationships with the Gators,” he said. “Also, the Miami fans are great there and I definitely want to learn a lot more about them. I also have plans to attend Nebraska’s upcoming Spring Game.”

EVALUATION

A natural fit at the slot position but possesses traits which mirror the skill sets of an X- receiver.

Moorer displays an ability to separate off the line of scrimmage, run a combination of option routes, high point the football, stretch the field vertically, and run block.

Explosive with the football in his hands, has an ability to run downhill, which is similar to a running back.

Dynamic in the bubble screen passing attack and jet sweeps running the football.

Reminds us of Ohio State running back/wide receiver Curtis Samuel.
