Louisiana offensive lineman shares recruiting plans after second SEC offer

Cameron Wire’s recruiting picture is becoming more clear for the East Ascension (Gonzales, LA) offensive lineman.

Following a scholarship offer from Arkansas over the weekend, he now holds two offers from SEC programs.

Wire’s first came from Missouri on October 13.

This off-season, the 2018 prospect plans to attend camps at LSU along with the Under Armour All-American Camp in March.

And is undecided on schools to schedule for unofficial and official visits.

“I don’t have any visits set up yet,” Wire said. “I plan on taking them after my high school career.”

As far as ranking his top schools goes, he has another plan.

“I really don’t know now,” said Wire, who holds 12 offers. “I’m going to see if I pick up a few more offers and see what’s gonna happen with the visits.”

Offers for the 2018 prospect includes Colorado State, Iowa State, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Lafeyette, Louisiana-Monroe, South Alabama, UCF, Jackson State and Nicholls State.

EVALUATION

A natural fit at offensive tackle with a lean and athletic frame.

Has traits that remind us of a tight end and could be used in that role in situational specific packages.

Very raw at the position which should allow for improved development each year at the next level.

Wire’s background in backetball and at defensive end have benefited both the footwork and use of the hands.

Will excel in space with concepts in the screen game and zone run schemes.

In other words, he can get to the second level of a defense.

Reminds us of former Notre Dame offensive tackle Ronni Stanley, who finished his rookie season with the Baltimore Ravens.
