Wisconsin’s Jack Cichy awarded Big Ten Defensive Player Of The Week honors

Following a 15 tackle performance during Wisconsin’s 30-23 overtime loss to Ohio State last Saturday, linebacker Jack Cichy was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

The junior also finished with a sack, a forced fumble and a quarterback hurry. Two weeks ago in a 14-7 loss at Michigan, he collected 12 total tackles.

So far this season, Cichy has compiled 50 total tackles, including seven for loss in six games for the Badgers.

EVALUATION

The Hill-Murray product is an ideal fit for the NFL as an inside linebacker for a 3-4 scheme, and an outside linebacker with a 4-3 approach.

He provides traits in both covering the middle, boundary and flat portions of the football field, along with an ability to fill gaps in run support.

Reminds us of Minnesota Vikings’ linebacker Chad Greenway.

During last seasons’ 23-21 win over Southern Cal in the Holiday Bowl, Cichy brought down current Cleveland Browns quarterback Cody Kessler on three consecutive sacks late in the third quarter:
